Tottenham Hotspur made an impressive start to the 2022-23 season under manager Antonio Conte. They won five of their first seven league matches and managed to keep pace with Arsenal and Manchester City at the top. However, their subsequent performances were not very encouraging as their unbeaten run came to an end at Arsenal before Manchester United, Newcastle United and Liverpool also defeated them.
Despite their struggles, Spurs are still fourth in the Premier League standings having secured 29 points from 15 matches. They also edged Leeds United with a 4-3 victory to enter the World Cup break on a high note. The Whites fought really hard and looked to have won the game after Rodrigo’s second goal in the 76th-minute. However, Bentancur’s quick-fire double turned the game on its head as the Lilywhites ultimately won the thrilling contest.
Tottenham’s performances in the Champions League group stages were also impressive as they pipped Eintracht Frankfurt to land top spot in Group D. The North London side endured a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Sporting Lisbon but bounced back to remain unbeaten in their following European games and ultimately qualified for the knockouts confidently.
